Some initial photos of the SD-1 v.2 have been posted HERE on our forum. We were able to make the SD-1 v.2 even shallower than the original SD-1 while increasing linear x-max by nearly 50%! The SD-1 v.2 will have a mounting depth of only 4.5" in the 10" size with the ability to handle a full 400 watts RMS thermally thanks to it's 2.5" diameter voice coil and larger magnet structure. The SD-1 v.2 is purpose built for customers with extremely shallow truck enclosures that still demand the best sound quality possible for their application.

The SD-1 v.2 features a progressive roll spider, a narrow foam surround with a special treatment applied to the back-side, a 4-spoke cast basket, a Kapton voice coil former, and a full 6" diameter magnet structure! Even though it is a much beefier speaker it is still every bit as efficient as the original SD-1. If you only want to run 200 watts RMS then the v.2 will still provide excellent output on low power! It simply has the capability to handle up to 400 watts RMS if you feel the need for more output.

The SD-1 v.2 will be undergoing testing directly in a customer vehicle very soon. If the v.2 passes customer / dealer testing then it will begin production immediatly. The SD-1 v.2 10" will carry an MSRP price of $229 - 249 -- please contact your dealer of choice for best pricing when they are available.

August 16th 2007: The SD-1 woofer line is on close-out sale direct from Sundown Audio and from all of our online dealers. This model offers great performance for lower powered applications. The Stereo Integrity 12" BM subwoofer is also on close-out sale and you can purchase both the 12" BM and the SD-1 in both 10" and 12" sizes here direct from Sundown Audio -- CLOSE-OUT PAGE.

We have listened carefully to our customers and dealers and an improved SD-1 v.2 is being developed at this time. It will be a larger speaker and will step up to a mid-level price and performance point. It will retain the great sound quality of the original SD-1 but will have significantly more power handling and output potential. Mounting depth will increase slightly but will still be quite shallow allowing for use in most truck enclosures, around 5.25" for the 10" model.

We are also developing a high performance sub for our customers that would like a pair of woofers to mate with either the SAZ-1500D or SAE-1000D. Tentatively named the "X" series (name has not been finalized) these woofers feature a 3" voice coil and more excursion than even the new SD-1 v.2 subwoofers that are being developed. More information and photos of this woofer are POSTED on our official forum. These woofers should be hitting dealers around the same time as the SD-1 v.2 launch.

June 20th 2007: The new Sundown Audio SD-1 Subwoofer product pages are up. One initial review can be seen on our forum HERE. These are low-cost, yet high quality, "Made in the USA" subwoofers. The first production run has no logo on the dust cap, although, future models will carry the Sundown Audio logo on the cap. These woofers carry the same great warranty as all Sundown Audio gear and are available now at any Sundown Audio dealer.

The SAZ-3000D is also hitting the streets starting with Team Sundown and a few select customers. More will become available to the general public in only a few more weeks, so stay tuned if you want to get the biggest and baddest Sundown amplifier to date!

May 20th 2007: The SAE-1000D pre-orders all shipped out last week and the SAE-1000D is now available at all authorized Sundown Audio dealers!

Thanks to some more great work by Brad Blankenagel the Sundown site has received a much needed re-design. If you notice any problems with the new design please contact me immediately as it is all new and we may have missed a bug in there somewhere. Brad has also continued his work on the "Rides" page which now contains several Sundown installations.

More local dealers have been added as well as new California Sales Rep, David Landeis, so if you are in California near the Cameron Park are David can help you out with your Sundown Audio questions.

May 3rd 2007: The SAE-1000D will be ready for sale within a week at current estimate, at which time it will be available at Sundown Audio authorized dealers in the USA and Canada! Production has started on the SAZ-3000D model as well, these are expected to debut towards the beginning of June. Supply will be limited on the first batch of SAZ-3000Ds but, don't worry, more will be following shortly afterwards to satisfy your demands for tremendous power output!

Sundown Audio is also proud to announce our new Distribution Partner in Israel, Loud N' Clear! Check the dealers page for more information regarding Loud N' Clear and, if you live in Israel, please contact them if you are interested in a Sundown Audio product. Sundown Audio looks forward to expanding our international dealer network with high quality Distribution Partners, such as Loud N' Clear, in various countries throughout the world.

Many customers are also asking, "Where are the 'E Series' woofers?" At this time it looks like they are going to have to be pushed back a few months in order to satisfy demand for the SAE-1000D and SAZ-3000D models which have exceeder all of our expectations for customer demand. We have not forgotten about them but our priority is to keep products we have already launched in stock and available even if that means slowing down development a bit. Make no mistake, they are on their way, albeit a bit late.

March 19th 2007: Prototypes for the SAZ-3000D, SAE-50.4, and SAE-75.2 amplifiers have arrived. Check out THIS thread on our official forum to see pictures of the new prototype amps. The "Rides" section is also back in business thanks to help from Brad Blankenagel.

March 4th 2007: The Sundown Audio dealer network is expanding almost every week! Take a look a look at the Dealers page to see if you have a local dealer near you today.

The "Rides" page was removed as it was not able to be maintained in a timely manner.

Each product page received a new high resolution shot of the internal circuitry. The SAX-100.4 page was updated to include a whole set of high resolution photos to match the other two models.

Information on several prototypes is coming soon... Sundown Audio Nightshade SPL woofers and several amplifier models to be included. The production model SAE-1000D amplifiers will also be available in the coming weeks, stay tuned for pictures and information!

February 1st 2007: The introductory sale is officially over as of today! I would like to congratulate all of the proud Sundown Audio amplifier owners who took the opportunity to get a great deal on some world class amplifiers. The next amplifier slated for release is the SAE-1000D, which has been discussed on the official Sundown Audio forum in the recent past. The final production model will look much like the proto pictures posted on the discussion forum minus the "oval" graphic. Instead the Sundown Audio logo will be slightly increased in size and will stand alone with no graphics around it.

January 13th 2007: The SAX-100.4 product manual has been added to it's respective product page. Official product page photos are still pending. Several local dealers have been added so take a look at the Dealers and Sales Rep page to see if you have a dealer near you today!

January 1st 2007: Happy new year from Sundown Audio. There is an intro sale running at all authorized dealers to celebrate the launch of the SAX-100.4 and the new year with the following pricing available: SAZ-1500D @ $450, SAX-100.2 @ $225, and the SAX-100.4 @ $350 each. These prices will last until the end of January, at which time dealer advertised pricing will return to full MSRP pricing.

December 23rd 2006: The SAX-100.4 product page is up with all pertinent information and specifications. Pictures and the full product manual in PDF format will soon be following. The SAX-100.4 is in stock and ready to ship at this time!

December 1st 2006: Sundown Audio is currently developing an SPL subwoofer for use in conjunction with up to four SAZ-1500D amplifiers or two SAZ-3000D amplifiers when they are released: The Sundown Audio Nightshade. We expect to have finished prototypes in 90 days or so, pictures coming at that time. Several versions will be extensively tested before anything is produced so expect 6 - 8 months for these to be on the market. These drivers will be available as a 12" Dual 1 ohm driver at first and a 15" version also D1 will come later. If demand is present other coil configurations will follow. For non-extreme SPL applications we will, as always, recommend Stereo Integrity subwoofers. If Sundown Audio were to build an SQ driver with large output potential it would be the Mag D2 from Stereo Integrity. The Mag also makes a fine SPL woofer despite it's SQ design, but our driver is being designed to handle in excess of 5,000 watts for competition purposes.

November 28th 2006: New high resolution product images were added to the SAX-100.2 and SAZ-1500D product pages. November 25th 2006: Updated warranty coverage information in regards to running the SAZ-1500D at 0.5 ohms nominal has been posted on our official forum in THIS thread. Please read this carefully before running your SAZ-1500D at a 0.5 ohm nominal load!

November 12th 2006: We would like to welcome our newest dealer, KLUV KUSTOMS in North Carolina. KLUV is available locally to do installation work as well as online as a dealer. They are currently working on running a group buy on the Full Size Chevy forums for those interested.

The SAX-100.4 production run is still scheduled to be on time so be sure to get your pre-order in before the pre-sale is over!

October 24th 2006: The SAX-100.4 is scheduled for release around December 5th - 10th of this year. Watch our forum for details on an upcoming pre-order / introductory sale for the new model. We have been working on many things here at Sundown Audio including prototypes for the SAE-1000D which is scheduled to be the first model in the new "E" (entry level) series of amps from Sundown Audio. Photos and details will be posted on our forum in the coming weeks, so stay tuned to our forum for this information as well.

September 21st 2006: Sundown Audio attended the 2006 NOPI Nationals in Atlanta, GA the weekend of the 16th and 17th. The show was great and many people were able to see and hear Sundown Audio products for the first time! 

September 10th 2006: The Rides page was updated to include photos of the demo car equipped with an SAZ-1500D and an SAX-100.4 prototype. The SA demo car sub-page also includes a large collection of pictures of the sound deadening that has been going on in the demo car as well as other changes that have been made.

September 2nd 2006: The SAX-100.4 prototype has been installed in the Sundown Audio demo car. New pictures will be coming soon to include the updated trunk and progress of the trunk sound deadening project.

August 28th 2006: The dealers and sales rep page is up and running. Also, as a reminder, the intro sale is over at the end of the day today. If you want to pick up an amp at the intro price today is your last chance!

The SAX-100.4 is coming along quickly and currently looks like it could have a launch date near the end of November 2006. Updates will be posted as pre-production preparation moves along.

SAX-100.4 prototypes have been completed and are currently being evaluated. Nick Lemons of Stereo Integrity is currently running a prototype in his sound quality oriented installation and the Sundown Audio demo car is awaiting installation of a prototype as well. There is currently no ETA for the release of the SAX-100.4 but, as always, check back here for updates as things progress.
